Thank you for all the love and lovely comments on my last post. It helped. You're all wonderful. ♥ ♥ ♥

Short update: My mum's still in the clinic, and I hope she's improving. I couldn't talk to her yet but talked to one of the doctors. The rest is still bugging me, but it's stuff I can deal with. I hope this week will be better.

Meme 1:
I like reading about people on my f-list. Sometimes there are things I'd love to know but don't dare to ask because it is too private, none of my business, or maybe I should already know. If there's anything you'd like to ask me, go ahead, I'll try to answer every question.

Meme 2:
1. Leave me a comment if you want to do the meme.
2. I'll reply with 6 of your icons and then you post this up and describe them!

[livejournal.com profile] thimble_kiss gave me those six icons to describe:

Tinkerbell: This is Tinkerbell in one of her rare moments where she was caught not acting. She looks back over her shoulder at the director of the movie, thinking, "What the hell made you think this costume is a good idea?" I love the look on her face and it's my default icon.

Sheep: Sheep are awesome. I had five of them for years, but sadly, the last one, Lotta, died just a few months ago. They are amazing, cute animals, each having its own personality. Lotta was a nutter, and I loved her madly. Fun fact: I added this particular icon to my collection specifically for a conversation with beloved [livejournal.com profile] thimble_kiss.

Winter: This is a story icon. For most of my stories, I have icons. I used this one for Glimpses of Christmas, a Harry/Ron story told in ten drabbles. I'm still very fond of that short story, and of the icon as well - it always reminds me of one of my favourite poems: Robert Frost's Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening.

Goldfish: Ha! Miss Kiss knows exactly where that icon comes from. It's an icon I made for the RP community [livejournal.com profile] crossingsend where we're both players. I love that place because it's relaxed and laid back and free of pressure. Why a goldfish? Because goldfishes don't have hands to masturbate. Fun fact: There's a typo in the icon, but I deliberately never corrected it because it always makes me grin at myself.

Eat.Sleep.Read: That's my rec icon. I love the simplicity of it. The clear message is sexy.

Quäl Dich Du Sau!: Right. Before I attempt to translate it, let me tell you the story.

It's a quote and it was said in 1997 during the Tour de France. German racing cyclist Jan Ullrich was wearing yellow, meaning he was in the lead. It was a hard day for him. He was exhausted and tired, and the lead was shrinking. Udo Bölts, also member of the German team, realised that Ullrich was losing his drive. Bölts who was desperate to motivate Ullrich, finally yelled 'Quäl Dich, Du Sau!' A nearby microphone recorded it, Ullrich won, and what Bölts yelled exploded into an idiom. I hear and say it often, especially at the end of an eight hour ski day like last weekend, after carrying a heavy backpack for days and too many miles, or half an hour before I finally reach a summit.

I struggled with the translation and came up with: "Push through, bitch."
'Quäl dich' (literal translation is torture yourself) implies suffering in order to accomplish something, and 'Du Sau' is a vulgar expression that comes from a female pig, but doesn't have the same connotation as calling someone a 'pig' in English.

This is my favourite icon ever.

1. Flygirl-- I'm a flight attendant. I spend a lot of time flying and I love it. I love planes and all the craziness that goes with them. Also, I think fighter pilots are awesome and wish I could be one myself, preferably in space... but, um, that will never happen. sadly.

2. I would totally be sorted into Ravenclaw if I were at Hogwarts. I think everyone has a little of all 4 houses in them somewhere, but I'm mostly a Ravenclaw. I kinda wish Harry had met a few cooler Ravenclaws, because most of them were right tossers in the books. Cho and Marietta... ugh. Luna was the only decent one really that was mentioned much in canon. I'm a bookworm and a geek and actually quite bright, but people still think that I must be a total moron when they meet me, because I am reasonably decent looking and a flight attendant. It's annoying. Plus I like the combo of the sw/hp fandoms in one pretty blue icon.

3. Ah, Seamus. I actually want to find a different Seamus icon, but haven't really found one. Dean/Seamus is my OTP and it was the pairing that really sucked me into fandom and was my first slash ship. I love those boys. I do wish that dirty thoughts Seamus was a bit older in the icon though, because using his cute little 11 year old face for dirty Dean/Seamus stories makes me feel like a bit of a perv.

4. I am in love with Hikaru Sulu. And I like this pic of John Cho. Sulu pilots a starship, is a scientist (doctorate in astrophysics and a botany obsession), and is totally bad ass. He's amazing and I spend too much of my free time writing stories about him.

5. Um, also I love Bridget Jones's Diary-- I've seen the movie dozens of times and she's just so awkward and delightful. And that's one of my fav scenes-- I can give up... or not. Instead I choose vodka-- and Chaka Khan. Plus, I'm eternally single, so she holds a special place in my heart.

6. when life gives you lemons, shut up and eat your damn lemons-- I so agree with this. I've never liked lemonade-- it's too sweet and sticky. Life sucks sometimes and bad things happen, but trying to sugarcoat them won't help. I say eat your damn lemons and wait for dessert, because it'll come, eventually.

wow, so much more than you ever wanted to know about me. haha. :D

Now the Flygirl makes sense! I've been wondering what the story behind that was. I like flying, but I don't think I'd be equipped to be either a flight attendant or a pilot. I admire those who are.

Hmm, for many reasons I adore Cho. I think she's a great character. I can agree on Luna, though. She's brilliant.

I love the vodka icon. It's appropriate for so many situations. Somehow I didn't get at first that it was Bridget Jones, but of course I remember that scene. Made of so much win.

Thank you for sharing! It's fascinating to learn more about you, and I definitely wanted to know.
