This morning, I slept until nine, got up, took a shower, pulled on my holey denims and baggy t-shirt, and made myself a cup of coffee with loads of milk.

Then I thought to myself, "Might as well have a look what's going on in LJ land." I didn't have the time to do much reading lately, and getting lost in the anarchic part of the internet between friends and strangers and creativity sounds brilliant.

So I turned on my computer, added some sugar to my coffee because I'm just that frivolous, logged in, poked around, updated my stories-to-read-list, considered for the hundredth time taking over an abandoned newsletter but again postponed messaging the mod, and then- wait a moment...

Whoa.

Rules!!!

The Ministry of Minimizing Variety in Fandom Interaction (MoMViFI) is enforcing the new standard for commenting.

So. I would like to announce (after padding to the fruit bowl and cutting myself a mango and an apple): This journal is a rule free zone.

And, as this is a rule free zone, here are the rules:
  • If you read one of my stories and want to tell me it sucks - do it!
  • If you read one of my stories and want to leave constructive criticism (or ANY criticism) - do it! It's the only way I can improve and I'll be more than grateful. In fact, I have a hard time not getting angry at people who say criticism is a bad thing. They hinder this kind of creative exchange.
  • If you read one of my stories but don't want to comment (the horror!) - don't do it. You don't owe me shit (Edited for clarification).
  • If you read one of my stories and want to leave me a rec for another story which you think I might like - do it! I love recs.
  • If you see a comment on one of my stories and you want to reply to this comment - do it! Interaction and communication is good.
  • If you read one of my stories and you want to tell me you like it - do it! Use two, two hundred or two thousand words. I'm interested in your thoughts, and I feel like a cookie in warm milk if someone likes what I write.
  • If you stumble upon one of my unlocked entries and want to comment despite not being on my f-list - do it! Unlocked means open for everyone.
  • If you want to comment on one of my entries despite having a different opinion (the horror!) - do it! With time and chocolate, I'll get over it. I promise.
  • If you comment, don't be surprised if I answer, and don't don't be surprised if it sometimes takes a day or two.
  • If you want to friend me - do it! You don't have to justify wanting to read my entries, and I like friends.
  • If you want to defriend me - do it! You don't have to justify not wanting to read my entries, and I like honesty.

tl;dr. Everything in this journal is open for discussion, criticism, praise and challenging, including stories. If I don't want you to comment, I'll turn the feature off. If I don't want you to read, I'll lock. If I don't want interaction, I DON'T POST ON THE INTERNET.

The first one who replies to this post with the valid critique that starting a story with the main character waking up is a trope, gets a drabble of their choice.

Oh, thanks for saying so! You just never know. It's hard on the internet since we don't have body language or tone of voice to tell you how people are reacting to things.

Heh, I love your scratchy underwear metaphor. :-P
